# Partner overview

You run conversations for a client, and the recordings, transcripts and reports are theirs. In
dembrane you set that up as a workspace "For an external organisation". It is billed on its own,
it names the client's data owner, and that person is invited as a free, read-only observer.

You do not need a partner status for this. An admin of your organisation creates the workspace,
and the screen has no agreement to tick.

If the work is for your own organisation, skip this section. The
[host guides](../host/index.md) cover what you need.

## Where to go

| You want to | Read |
|---|---|
| Set up a workspace for a client | [External-client workspaces](./external-client-workspaces.md) |
| Let the client watch, or work in the workspace | [Observer & external collaborators](./observer-and-external-collaborators.md) |
| Change the data owner, move projects, or hand work over | [Data ownership & handoff](./data-ownership-and-handoff.md) |

## Know this before you start

- A workspace for an external organisation starts on its own free plan, whatever plan your
organisation has. Arrange a paid plan for it before a large session.
- Projects stay where they start. A project cannot move between one of your own workspaces and a
client's workspace, so create the client's projects in the client's workspace.
- The dashboard has no button that transfers a workspace to the client's own organisation.
[Data ownership & handoff](./data-ownership-and-handoff.md) says what you can do today.
