# What to expect

Here is each step, in order. Your host decides which ones you get, so yours may be shorter.

1. Open the link or scan the QR code. It opens in your browser, in the language your host chose.
2. Read a few cards. Some hosts show a short tutorial first. Each card has one button to go on,
such as "Let's go!" or "Got it". "Back" takes you one card back.
3. Read the privacy card. It says who is responsible for your data. You press "I understand". If
your host asks for your consent, you first tick "I consent to my conversation being recorded
   and processed."
4. Answer "Ready to begin?". Your host may ask for a "Session name" and may offer "Tags" to pick.
Then press "Continue". If they ask for neither, the portal skips this step.
5. Press "Record" and talk. Your browser asks to use the microphone. Allow it. If you would
rather write, tap the text icon.
6. Press "Stop", then "Finish". The thank-you page says: "Your response has been recorded. You
   may now close this tab."

## Good to know

- There is no microphone check before you start. You can test your microphone on the recording
screen: tap the gear icon, "Settings".
- There is no language to pick. The link sets the language.
- You do not sign in anywhere.

## What your host may add

- An "ECHO" button while you record. See [refining & verifying](./refining-and-verifying.md).
- A question on the thank-you page: "Do you want to stay in the loop?". Leave an email address
there if you want to hear when a [report](./your-report.md) is published.

On the thank-you page you can also choose "Record another conversation", or "Show QR code" to let
someone else take part.
